Avionics
Avionics is a portmanteau of aviation and electronics. It first emerged in print in 1949 in the context of aviators and aviation-related electronics. In the 1950s, avionics evolved to meet the needs of the budding civilian market. It was now used to refer to aircraft sensors, radio navigation, autopilot systems, and other forms of on board telecommunication.
