Dongying Boutique is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the fusion of cyberpunk aesthetics with contemporary salon functionality, realized within a 400-square-meter space in Shanghai's French Concession. The design, created by Jason Chan and recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully integrates transparent geometric elements and technological motifs throughout its various functional zones. The main entrance features a striking transparent geometric facade that creates an intentional sense of visual dislocation, while the front desk area combines minimalist lines with transparent glass laminate and integrated lighting systems to maximize product display potential. The hair cutting section draws inspiration from luggage design, incorporating distinctive BOX elements that reference suitcase seating, while the hot dyeing area predominantly utilizes glass as its primary material. Privacy considerations are addressed through the implementation of double velvet soft curtains in the washing area, demonstrating a thoughtful balance between openness and client comfort. The project, completed in August 2020, showcases innovative use of materials including brushed stainless steel, terrazzo, colored laminated glass, glass brick, art paint, black titanium stainless steel, piano paint board, LED displays, light film, neon lighting, and volcanic stone. This sophisticated material palette, combined with the integration of intelligent technology and modern amenities, creates a space that not only serves its practical purpose but also stands as a testament to the evolution of cyberpunk aesthetics in contemporary commercial interior design.
