The 72.7-square-meter space showcases an innovative approach to spatial design, featuring a striking ceiling constructed from precisely cut cypress wood that creates a three-dimensional effect reminiscent of traditional Japanese window frames. The design, conceived by Chia-Hsin Chi, demonstrates exceptional material efficiency and sustainability principles by repurposing remaining cypress wooden veneer for cabinet surfaces in the Japanese-style room. The residence's distinctive features include a gray Pandomo flooring with minimal division lines, black iron plate accents that create a compelling contrast with the gentle Zen elements, and a cleverly designed mezzanine storage space accessible by ladder, maximizing the vertical dimensions of the compact space.
