A Pocket Park Commercial Space Office

A Pocket Park Commercial Space Office is an innovative architectural and interior design concept that reimagines the traditional workplace environment by integrating public green spaces within commercial office settings. Located in the historic Minsheng community of Taipei, this 170-square-meter project represents a groundbreaking approach to urban commercial space design by deliberately retreating the building line to create an intimate gathering space that serves both office users and the broader community. The design philosophy challenges the conventional Taiwanese mindset of maximizing private space utilization, instead prioritizing the creation of multifunctional public areas that foster community engagement. Utilizing a sophisticated material palette of monochrome natural elements including stone, concrete, and granite, complemented by warm-toned wood, the design seamlessly extends the existing urban park aesthetic into the neighborhood. A central Chinese Fringe-tree surrounded by a linear pool creates dynamic seasonal variations and enhanced sensory experiences, while natural stone walls, carefully selected plantings, and a waterfall feature contribute to the space's biophilic character. The project, completed in 2019, earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to blending interior and landscape architecture. This design solution effectively transforms the traditional transition zone between public and private spaces into an active community asset, demonstrating how commercial architecture can contribute positively to urban community life while maintaining its primary function as a professional workspace.
