Jonathan's Kitchen And Komatose Restaurant

Jonathan's Kitchen and Komatose Restaurant is an innovative architectural interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial design through the masterful integration of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics. Located in Hyderabad, India, this dual-concept establishment encompasses a 316-square-meter restaurant space and a 186-square-meter night club, harmoniously united under a single roof while maintaining distinct identities. The design, completed in 2015 by architects Pramod Jaiswal and Divya Ethirajan, draws inspiration from the rugged, picturesque landscape of Hyderabad's outskirts, incorporating this influence through thoughtfully selected materials and textures. The space features distinctive architectural elements including wire-cut brick walls, lime yellow Shahbad stone cladding, and expanded sheet metal paneling, creating a compelling interplay of textures and surfaces. The design's sophisticated approach to space utilization is evident in its three-zone division: an entrance foyer of 28 square meters, the main restaurant area, and the night club space with a 46.45-square-meter mezzanine level, all supported by a 218-square-meter back-of-house facility. The project, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in material selection, spatial articulation, and the integration of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. The design's success lies in its ability to create engaging spaces through tactile quality and controlled material juxtaposition, featuring elements such as articulated brick walls, textured slate surfaces, and patinated metal sheets, all working together to provide users with an optimal balance of visual stimulation and functional comfort.
