Changeable Chair Chair is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of functionality and adaptability in contemporary living spaces. Created by designers Yansheng Xia and Yue Deng, this versatile seating solution consists of a primary chair structure complemented by attachable wooden storage boxes, demonstrating a sophisticated application of system design theory. The design, which garnered recognition with a Gold A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, employs 30mm standard wood board as its primary material, utilizing advanced CNC lathe and routing techniques for precise manufacturing. The chair's dimensions of 580mm width, 600mm depth, and 750mm height are carefully calculated to ensure optimal ergonomic comfort while maintaining structural stability. The distinguishing feature of this design lies in its modular approach, where specialized wood joints enable users to attach various storage boxes to different sections of the chair, creating personalized configurations for storing everyday items such as books, writing implements, remote controls, beverages, or even small potted plants. This adaptable design not only addresses the practical needs of contemporary living but also pays homage to traditional Chinese woodworking techniques, reimagining ancient joinery methods for modern industrial production.
