Joy Like a Kid Pastries Packaging is an innovative packaging design solution that reimagines traditional Cantonese pastry presentation through a child-centric aesthetic approach, created by Chinese designer Yicheng Huang. This thoughtfully conceived design system employs playful cartoon illustrations to capture the genuine expressions of children encountering delectable pastries, effectively bridging generational gaps in traditional food culture. The design, which earned an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, consists of three distinct package variations, including a notable blue box design featuring an interactive lucky dip mechanism that encourages social engagement among young consumers. The packaging utilizes environmentally conscious corrugated paper materials, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability while maintaining cost-effectiveness. The design's conceptual foundation draws from the deep-rooted emotional connection between Cantonese people and their traditional pastries, particularly focusing on childhood memories and experiences.
