Beanopini Food is an innovative packaging design project that revolutionizes the presentation and marketing of lupini beans, a traditional Mediterranean superfood, through sophisticated branding and consumer education strategies. The design, created by Creative Director Angela Spindler in collaboration with illustrator Jo Tronc, features a distinctive visual hierarchy that effectively communicates the product's nutritional benefits while maintaining an engaging and approachable aesthetic. The packaging system employs resealable outer pouches measuring 170mm by 210mm, complemented by inner vacuum-sealed packs in two sizes: 100g (145mm x 160mm) and 38g (105mm x 130mm). The design utilizes gravure printing on white pigmented polyethylene with CMYK and two spot colors per pack, finished with a matt film coating. Distinguished by its organic bean-shaped graphic device and vibrant, energetic color palette, the design successfully differentiates four product varieties while emphasizing craft and traditionalism through carefully selected illustrations rather than photography. The project, which earned an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, demonstrates exceptional technical prowess in overcoming gravure printing challenges while maintaining visual consistency across the product range. The design's success lies in its ability to balance educational content with aesthetic appeal, featuring a clear information hierarchy and engaging language that effectively communicates both brand values and product benefits, making it particularly notable in the competitive snack food category.
