Alpine 3D Puzzle 3d Puzzle

Alpine 3D puzzle 3d Puzzle is an innovative educational toy and spatial installation designed for the Slovenian alpine environment, combining learning with interactive play through a large-scale wooden construction system. This sophisticated puzzle system, created by designers Eva Strukelj and Ignacio Lopez Sola, consists of three distinct element groups: substantial base pieces of varying thicknesses that form valleys and hills, representations of alpine flora and fauna, and mountain range components that can be assembled to create either a complete Julian Alps ring or free-form configurations. The puzzle elements are thoughtfully color-coded in three distinct hues - green, brown/red, and grey - symbolizing both landscape types (meadows, forest floor, and rocks) and seasonal transitions throughout the year. Crafted from high-quality birch and beech plywood using CNC cutting technology and finished with water varnish and tunga oil, this versatile educational tool can expand to dimensions of 250 by 250 centimeters, depending on the assembly configuration. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design category, incorporates abstract animal representations with distinctive characteristics and mountain elements featuring symbolic holes that represent natural bridges and valleys. This pedagogical tool serves multiple functions as a free-play device, guided workshop material, and architectural installation, enabling children of various ages to explore and understand the Julian Alps' topography and ecosystem through hands-on engagement. The puzzle's innovative slot system allows for vertical construction and diverse compositional possibilities, creating unique microenvironments that enhance the learning experience while maintaining a strong connection to the regional landscape and cultural heritage.
