JZ Club Jazz Bar is a distinguished interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Shanghai aesthetics with contemporary jazz culture. Located in Shanghai's Found 158, this sophisticated establishment, designed by Chikara Sasaki and Aky N, represents a masterful interpretation of spatial design that earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The 500-square-meter venue features a thoughtfully curated atmosphere that pays homage to old Shanghai's rich cultural heritage while creating an intimate setting for live jazz performances. The design's distinctive elements include grey brick backdrops contrasted with vibrant Italian stucco walls in crimson, a color choice that symbolically references Chinese cultural elements. The space is characterized by its careful attention to atmospheric details, incorporating art deco lighting fixtures that cast subtle illumination across the venue, complemented by red drapery that adds to the mysterious yet welcoming ambiance. With a ceiling height of 4.56 meters, the space achieves a perfect balance between grandeur and intimacy. The design team's innovative approach successfully preserved the venue's historical essence while introducing contemporary elements, creating a sophisticated environment that caters to jazz enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs alike. The project, completed in 2016, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning, with dedicated areas including a 27-square-meter kitchen space, and showcases the designers' ability to create an immersive experience that celebrates both musical and architectural artistry.
