Serial Apartment is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of order within spatial chaos through the strategic use of serialized design elements. Completed in 2018 in Taipei, this 115-square-meter residential space demonstrates a sophisticated approach to contemporary living through its thoughtful material composition and systematic arrangement. The design philosophy centers on the transformation of three primary materials—wood, marble, and iron—into various functional elements that transcend mere decoration. The project's distinctive feature lies in its serial arrangement methodology, where wood veneers of different colors are systematically arranged in varying sizes and directions, creating a rhythmic pattern throughout the space. The television wall serves as the focal point of the design, incorporating a masterful combination of gray marble, mirror, and laminate materials, with marble pieces cut in different sizes and chamfered in portrait orientation to maintain the serial theme. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project, recognized in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases designer Hsin-Ting Chen's expertise in creating cohesive living environments.
