Yanlan Resort Hotel Resort Hotel is a transformative architectural and hospitality project located in Meitan, Guizhou, China, that exemplifies the harmonious integration of traditional rural architecture with contemporary hospitality design. The resort, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design category, represents a masterful renovation of multiple dilapidated farmhouses into a cohesive hospitality experience. Designed by Wu Xiaolu and team, the project demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to local cultural heritage while introducing modern amenities and functionality. The design philosophy centers on preserving the essence of northern Guizhou's folk architecture while creating spaces that serve modern hospitality needs. The resort's material palette, featuring lilac wood, Russian ash, gray brick, plain cement, and gray iron plate, reflects a thoughtful balance between traditional building materials and contemporary architectural elements. The transformation process involved careful spatial reorganization, selective demolition, and strategic expansion of existing structures to accommodate dining facilities and communal spaces. This adaptive reuse project stands as a testament to sustainable architectural practices, showcasing how historical rural structures can be reimagined for contemporary use while maintaining their cultural significance.
