Arbor Arena Parametric Pavillion

Arbor Arena Parametric Pavillion is an innovative architectural installation that exemplifies the convergence of parametric design methodologies and biophilic principles in contemporary spatial design. This sophisticated structure, which earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a metaphorical interpretation of a tree's morphology through computational design algorithms. The pavilion encompasses 65 square meters of thoughtfully articulated space, featuring a modular construction system that enables disassembly and reconstruction. Its architectural composition includes a deck foundation supporting a dynamic grandstand topology, complemented by macaranduba woodwork structural elements connected through metal vertices. The pavilion's distinctive envelope consists of triangular-based pyramidal modules crafted from Super MDF, exhibiting variable heights that create a graduated spatial experience from the grandstand to the stage area. The design incorporates sophisticated environmental considerations through strategically positioned openings with curtain systems that optimize visual permeability and thermal comfort. A central zenith opening, adorned with an LED-integrated luminous sculpture, creates a compelling interplay of natural and artificial light, mimicking sunlight filtering through a forest canopy. The pavilion's interior features carefully selected tropical vegetation, including acai and ravenala species, reinforcing its connection to native ecosystems. Originally conceived for a temporary exhibition, the structure's innovative modular design enabled its permanent relocation to a botanical garden, demonstrating its adaptability and sustainable approach to architectural design.
