Signal Splitters

Signal splitters, also known as power dividers, are electronic devices used to split an input signal into multiple output signals. They are commonly used in various applications, including telecommunications, broadcasting, and wireless networks. The primary function of a signal splitter is to divide the power of the input signal equally among the output signals, while maintaining the impedance of the input and output ports. Signal splitters can be designed using various technologies, including passive and active components. Passive splitters use only passive components such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors to divide the signal power, while active splitters use active components such as transistors and amplifiers to amplify and distribute the signal power. Passive splitters are generally simpler and less expensive, but their performance may be limited by the number of output ports and the frequency range of the input signal. Signal splitters are available in different configurations, including 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, and higher-order splitters. The number of output ports determines the type of splitter, and each output port is usually labeled with a specific power ratio, indicating the amount of power that is delivered to that port. For example, a 2-way splitter may have two output ports labeled 3 dB, indicating that each port receives half of the input power. Signal splitters can be used in various applications, including distributing signals to multiple antennas, amplifiers, or receivers. They can also be used in test and measurement applications to split a signal for analysis or to connect multiple devices to a single signal source.
