Pressure scales are systems of measurement used to quantify the amount of force exerted per unit area. For example, the tire pressure scale is used to measure the pressure inside vehicle tires and is typically measured in units of pounds per square inch (psi). The blood pressure scale is used to measure the pressure exerted by blood on the walls of arteries and is typically measured in units of millimeters of mercury (mmHg). Regardless of the specific pressure scale being used, accurate measurement of pressure is essential for many applications. Pressure gauges and other measuring devices are used to measure pressure in a variety of settings, from industrial manufacturing to medical diagnostics.
