His most famous work, The Sports and Pastimes of the People of England, is still considered a definitive reference on the subject. Strutt's writing was known for its accuracy and attention to detail, much like his paintings. Despite his many accomplishments, Strutt's life was not without its struggles. He suffered from financial difficulties throughout his career and was forced to sell many of his prized possessions, including his extensive collection of antiquities. However, he persevered and continued to produce beautiful works of art until his death in 1802.
