Alfred Choubrac (1873-1944) was a celebrated French artist, most famous for his landscapes and depictions of everyday French life. Born in the rural department of Charente in southwest France, Choubrac was largely self-taught and he often painted rural scenes of the area he grew up in. He was also a military painter and was a member of the French Army's Artistic Section. He was an official painter for the French Army during World War I and his works from this period are both highly acclaimed and widely sought after. Some of his more famous works are 'The Return Home' (1912), 'The River View' (1913), 'A Moment of Calm' (1921), and 'The Street in the Sun' (1925). Alfred Choubrac's distinctive style has made him a highly respected figure in the art world and his works are admired for their vivid depictions of everyday life in France.
