Volleyball Standards

Volleyball standards, also known as volleyball posts, are the vertical poles that support the net in a volleyball game. They are typically made of steel or aluminum and are designed to withstand the impact of the ball and the tension of the net. Volleyball standards are an essential component of any volleyball court, as they provide the necessary support for the net and ensure that it is at the correct height and tension. The height of volleyball standards is regulated by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which sets the standard height for men's volleyball at 2.43 meters (7 feet 11 5/8 inches) and the standard height for women's volleyball at 2.24 meters (7 feet 4 1/8 inches). The standards must also be set at a specific distance from the sidelines, which is typically 3 meters (9 feet 10 inches) for indoor volleyball and 8 meters (26 feet 3 inches) for beach volleyball. Volleyball standards are typically installed in pairs, one on each side of the court. They are anchored to the ground using a variety of methods, including ground sleeves, which are buried in the ground and allow the standards to be removed when not in use, and external weights, which are placed on the base of the standards to provide stability. In addition to supporting the net, volleyball standards also provide a visual reference for players and officials. The top of the standards is marked with a tape or flag to indicate the height of the net, and the standards themselves may be painted or decorated with team colors or logos.
