Gymnastic Vaulting Horses

Gymnastic vaulting horses, also known as vaulting bucks or simply vaults, are pieces of gymnastics equipment used in artistic gymnastics for the vaulting event. The vaulting horse is a padded, rectangular apparatus that stands on four legs and is typically made of wood or fiberglass. It is designed to provide gymnasts with a springboard for their takeoff and a platform for their landing during a vault. The vaulting horse has undergone several changes since its inception. Originally, it was a wooden box with a padded top that was used for jumping over. However, as gymnastics evolved, so did the vaulting horse. Today's vaulting horse is much more sophisticated, with a wider base and a longer body that allows for more momentum during the run-up. To perform a vault, the gymnast runs down a runway and jumps onto the vaulting horse, using their hands to push off the horse and propel themselves into the air. They then perform a series of twists, flips, and other acrobatic maneuvers before landing on the other side of the horse. The difficulty of the vault is determined by the number and complexity of the maneuvers performed in the air. Vaulting horses are an essential piece of equipment in artistic gymnastics, and they are used in both men's and women's competitions. They are also used in gymnastics training, where gymnasts practice their vaulting skills and perfect their technique.
