Luigi Baroli (b. 1885 - d.1962) is remembered as one of the most influential modern Italian painters. A self-taught artist, Baroli was born in Naples and began his career as an apprentice in the studio of his father, a local landscape painter. He quickly developed his own distinct style, often depicting stylized figures, cityscapes, and scenes from everyday life with a focus on bold primary colors and an expressive use of line. His works are now highly sought after, with many of his larger paintings fetching high prices at auction. His most celebrated works include 'The Red Table' (1930), a bold canvas depicting a seated woman in a vibrant red dress, 'The Arno River' (1943) a calm and serene view of the banks of the Arno, and 'A Sunday in Naples' (1952), a vibrant and dynamic street scene.
