Arkadii Shishkin

Arkadii Shishkin (1856 -1948) was a Russian neo-romantic artist, whose works were inspired by the Russian countryside and its native people. He is renowned for using muted colors and a realistic, though at times idealized, style in his paintings. He was a member of the Association of Artists of the Russian Federation, the Peredvizhniki, and the Union of Russian Artists. Some of his most famous works include Forest of the Slavyanka, Miracle in the Forest, and In the Focus of Sunrays. His artworks reflect a distinctively Russian style, and remain popular to this day.
