Albert Nagele was an influential American artist and one of the most renowned figure painters of the early 20th century. His work was well known for its distinctive color palettes and composition as well as his sophisticated use of light. One of his most famous works, The Sunflowers, was a portrait of a family in a rural setting and is considered one of the signature pieces of the American realist painting genre. Nagele's other works include Still Life with Peaches and Pears, a painting of two fruit still lifes in an outdoor setting, and the celebrated urban portrait, New York City in Winter. With a career spanning over five decades, Nagele's influence remains in the art world today.
