Jean Negulesco was a Romanian-American film director, screenwriter, and artist. He was born on February 26, 1900, in Craiova, Romania, and passed away on July 18, 1993, in Marbella, Spain. Negulesco's artistic talent was evident from an early age, and he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest before moving to Paris to continue his education. In the 1920s, he moved to the United States and began working in Hollywood as an art director, before eventually transitioning to directing and screenwriting. Negulesco directed over 30 films throughout his career, including the Academy Award-winning film Johnny Belinda (1948), as well as How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and Three Coins in the Fountain (1954). Negulesco's films often explored themes of love, relationships, and the human condition. He had a unique ability to capture the emotions of his characters and convey them to the audience in a powerful and relatable way. His films were also known for their stunning visuals and use of color, which was likely influenced by his background as an artist. Jean Negulesco was a major Romanian artist who is renowned for his stunning oil paintings, sketches, and watercolors.
