Andrzej Zborski

Andrzej Zborski is a highly respected Polish artist known for his abstract geometric paintings. He was born in 1949 in the city of Łódź, Poland, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Zborski began creating his works in the early 1970s, and since then he has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout his native country and abroad. His works have been acquired for public collections in Europe and the United States, and he has been awarded various artistic distinctions such as the Prize of the Minister of Culture and Art of the Republic of Poland. Zborski's paintings are characterized by their precise, geometric shapes and bold, contrasting colors. He often uses simple shapes such as squares, circles, and triangles, arranging them in intricate patterns to create a sense of movement and depth. His works are highly abstract, but they often suggest architectural or industrial forms, reflecting his interest in the built environment. Despite the abstract nature of his work, Zborski's paintings are deeply rooted in the history of art and design. He has cited the work of Kazimir Malevich, Piet Mondrian, and the Bauhaus movement as major influences on his style. Zborski's paintings are also informed by his interest in science and mathematics, particularly geometry and topology. In addition to his work as a painter, Zborski has also been involved in art education. He has taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and has served as the director of the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw. He is widely regarded as one of the most important artists of his generation in Poland and has had a significant impact on the development of abstract art in his country.
