Alberto Gironella

Alberto Gironella was a Mexican artist born in 1925 in Mexico City. He received a degree in Fine Arts in 1951 and afterwards dedicated himself to painting and teaching. Gironella is well known for his surrealist and abstract works. His works often depict Mexican history, culture and everyday life in a unique style. Some of his most famous works include Portrait of the Actor Jorge Martínez, La Cuaima, The Rain Tree, and the Landscape of Tehuacán. Gironella was a prolific artist and his works have been displayed in over twenty countries, including Italy, France and the United States. He has been recognized with many awards, including being granted the National Prize for Plastic Arts in Mexico in 1982. In 2003, he was awarded the Medal of Arts from the National Arts Council of Mexico. Alberto Gironella's works continue to be appreciated for their beauty, originality and powerful symbolism.
