Alex Cox, born in Durham in 1947, is a celebrated British artist known for a creative approach to painting, often combining the real with the abstract. His works focus on surrealist themes, often highlighting the clash between the chaotic and the logical. One of his most famous works is 'Untitled', a large oil painting produced in 1991 which explores the juxtaposition of vibrant colors and geometric shapes, while challenging the viewer to question their preconceived views of both order and chaos. Another notable work is 'Fading into Chaos', a painting from 1988 which features a stark, yet exquisitely painted landscape. The recurring motif of surrealism in his paintings makes Cox an important figure in the history of modern art.
