Hans Platschek was a German artist known for his expressionist and surrealist style of painting. He was born in 1902 and went on to become one of the most influential figures in German modern art. Platschek’s works can be seen across many different genres of painting, from landscapes to abstract creations. He is best known for his portrait of the female figure, often depicting her with a strong since of motion and emotion. Platschek’s most famous pieces include his painting of the actress Brigitte Bardot, the large scale portraits of the writer Thomas Mann and the surreal work ‘The Dream of the Circus’.
