Alberto Carol

Alberto Carol, born in the province of Havana, Cuba in 1982, is an influential figure in Latin American art. His art is characterised by its vibrant colours, clever use of scale and its depiction of everyday life in Havana. His best-known works include El Capitan, a mural painted on the walls of the Capitol building in Havana, and Paisaje de Vereda, a mural dedicated to pre-revolutionary Cuban art. He is also known for his sculptures of abstract figures, which often feature classic Cuban musical instruments such as the conga and the tres. Carol has received numerous awards for his art, including the National Award of Visual Arts from the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, and the Grand Prize from the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana.
