Akira Matsumoto is a Japanese artist renowned for his paintings of nature and the human soul. His works are often noted for their tranquil and intricate compositions. Born in 1950, Matsumoto graduated from the Osaka University of Art in 1972 and soon began exhibiting his paintings around the world. He was also awarded the prestigious Guggenheim International Award in 1989. Some of Matsumoto's renowned works include 'Water's Edge,' 'Breaking Wave' and 'Twilight.' His work 'Resonance' was displayed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in 2017.
