Tulio Crali

Tulio Crali was an Italian artist who played a significant role in the Futurist movement of the early 20th century. He was born in Aquileia in 1910 and began his artistic career as a painter, but later became interested in the idea of aeropainting, a style of art that sought to capture the dynamism and speed of modern life. Crali's work was characterized by its bold use of color and its emphasis on movement, and he created several important works during his time, including the painting Before the Parachute Opens (1939) and the book L'Aeropittura Futurista (1930). Crali was fascinated by the idea of flight, and his paintings often depicted airplanes and other flying machines in motion. He was also interested in the idea of speed, and many of his works sought to capture the sensation of movement and velocity. Crali's work was deeply influenced by the Futurist movement, which celebrated modernity and the technological advances of the early 20th century. Despite his importance to the Futurist movement, Crali's work was largely forgotten after World War II. It was not until the 1980s that his work began to be rediscovered, and today he is celebrated as one of the most important Italian artists of the 20th century.
