He is known for his intricate portraiture and abstract art, which celebrates his Cuban-American heritage. Cruz's works have been featured in major galleries and exhibitions in the United States and Europe, and he has been lauded for his use of color and texture, particularly in his portrait works. His works are widely praised for their raw emotion and ability to tell a story. Cruz's career as an artist took him around the world, and he drew inspiration from his experiences in different places. His Miami Suite series was inspired by his experiences in Miami, while the Latin America Suite draws upon his Latin American roots. The Stained Glass Suite uses bright and vibrant colors to evoke stained glass windows, and is another one of his well-known works. Cruz's art was deeply personal and reflected his experiences as a Cuban-American. He often used his work to explore themes of identity, heritage, and belonging. His portraits were particularly powerful, capturing the essence of his subjects with incredible detail and emotion.
