Giant Penguins, also known as Palaeeudyptes klekowskii, are an extinct species of penguin that is believed to have lived about 40 million years ago during the Eocene period. It was the largest species of penguin ever to exist, reaching nearly 5 feet in height and weighing up to 250 pounds. It is believed to have inhabited the southern parts of New Zealand and Antarctica, living in the coastal and marine environments. The exact cause of their extinction is unknown, but current research suggests it may have been due to the shifting of tectonic plates and the resulting changes in ocean currents and coastal habitats.
