Adolphe Braun (1812-1877) was a French artist and photographer best known for his photography. He was highly influential in France influencing the rise of photography as an art form. Throughout his career, he used the Daguerreotype process which was a very popular technique in the 19th century. Braun is most famous for his photographs of the French monuments, religious scenes, and landscapes. He also published several important books on the history of photography. His most well-known works include Roman Catacombs, Portraits of the Artist’s Son and Wife, and Ruins of the Temple at Baalbek. Braun was incredibly important in the development of the French artistic landscape and was renowned for his attention to detail and sharp focus.
