Alice Rahon was a French-Mexican artist and poet who was born in 1910 in Paris. She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Toulouse and La Grande Chaumière in Paris before moving to Mexico City in 1946. There, she continued her art studies under the tutelage of Diego Rivera and was greatly influenced by Mexican culture. Rahon was widely known for her Surrealist works, which depicted a magical, dreamlike world and showcased her fascination with the unconscious, mythology, and archetypes. Rahon's art was characterized by bold use of color, abstract forms, and surreal imagery.
