Xinghui Dining Room

Xinghui Dining Room is an innovative architectural and interior design project that masterfully blends Chinese and Japanese design elements, creating a unique dining experience across 1000 square meters of space. Located in Jinan Cultural West Road, Shandong Province, China, this Silver A' Design Award-winning establishment opened in December 2019, distinguishing itself through its sophisticated interpretation of spatial design and cultural fusion. The space is conceptualized as a village-like arrangement where individual dining compartments function as separate houses, each offering distinct seasonal landscape views that enhance interpersonal communication through thoughtfully positioned windows. A striking 5-meter-high Tiger Shark sculpture serves as the central memory point, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese landscape painting principles of mountain visualization. The design philosophy incorporates the spiritual concepts of line, look, watch, and travel, creating a journey that begins from the circular entrance door and progresses through a carefully orchestrated sequence of spaces. The interior utilizes a combination of ancient brick, glass, art paint, and wood, demonstrating exceptional material harmony. The circulation path guides visitors through various experiential zones, including a sequence hall, an elevator journey to the third floor, and winding compartments accessed via original stone steps. This sophisticated design, created by Baodong Wang and team, earned recognition at the A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, particularly for its innovative approach to spatial organization and cultural synthesis. The project successfully overcomes the challenge of harmoniously combining Japanese and Chinese design elements while maintaining functionality and aesthetic appeal, creating an environment that transforms dining into a multi-sensory experience that changes with the seasons.
