Thomas Brock

Thomas Brock was a British sculptor who lived from 1847 to 1922. He was born in Worcester and studied at the School of Design in Worcester before moving to London to attend the Royal Academy Schools. Brock was a prolific artist, creating many sculptures and monuments throughout his career, and was considered one of the leading sculptors of his time. He was known for his attention to detail and his ability to capture the essence of his subjects in his work. Brock's most famous works include the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace, which he completed in 1911, and the statue of King Edward VII in Belfast, which was unveiled in 1921. He also created a number of other notable sculptures, including the statue of Sir Henry Irving in London's Leicester Square and the statue of Richard Wagner in Berlin. Brock was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts and was knighted in 1911 for his contributions to the arts. He was also a professor of sculpture at the Royal Academy Schools and was known for his dedication to teaching and mentoring young artists.
