Shiwu Resort Hotel, Guangzhou Resort Hotel is a remarkable architectural restoration project that transformed a historic Hakka walled village from the Qing Dynasty into a sophisticated boutique resort accommodation. Located approximately 80 kilometers from Guangzhou City and nestled among bamboo forests and natural ponds, this cultural preservation project exemplifies the harmonious fusion of historical architecture with contemporary design sensibilities. The resort complex encompasses eight meticulously restored ancient buildings, housing 41 bedrooms alongside modern amenities including a reading house, café, children's playroom, and exhibition hall. The design philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention while maintaining the authentic character of the historical relics, particularly evident in the preservation of traditional elements such as the defensive tower, ancestral temple, and residential quarters. The architectural renovation, completed between 2015 and 2017, masterfully integrates sustainable development principles with traditional Hakka architectural elements, featuring multiple open courtyards, patios, and interconnecting structures that create a layered spatial experience. The interior design showcases a sophisticated blend of modern comfort and historical authenticity, utilizing original grey brick walls complemented by holistic wooden furniture and modern Chinese partitions.
