Ralph Borland

Ralph Borland is a South African artist who has made a significant impact in the art world with his multi-disciplinary approach to art. His works are characterized by their unique blend of technology, science, and art, which he uses to explore themes such as identity, culture, and social issues. Borland's art is known for its interactive and participatory nature, which encourages viewers to engage with his work in a meaningful way. Borland's interest in art began at an early age, and he went on to study Fine Art at the University of Cape Town. He has since gone on to create works that have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town, the JHB Art Gallery, the Suncoast Casino Art Gallery, and the Pretoria Art Museum, among others. One of Borland's most notable works is the Suited for Subversion project, which involved the creation of a suit that could be used to protect protesters from police brutality. The suit was designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and it was made using materials such as Kevlar and reflective fabric. The suit was also equipped with a camera and a microphone, which allowed protesters to document their experiences and share them with the world. In addition to his art, Borland is also an educator and has taught at several universities and art schools in South Africa. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of artists and helping them to develop their skills and talents.
