Qabalan Bakery is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies the evolution of traditional bakery spaces into contemporary culinary destinations. Located in Amman, Jordan, this 440-square-meter establishment represents a sophisticated approach to bakery design, integrating functional efficiency with aesthetic excellence. The space is strategically divided into distinct zones, including areas for Arabic sweets, foreign bread, pizza, pastry, and Arabic pita bread, with a central delicacies display showcasing cakes, desserts, macarons, chocolates, and petitfors. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection and spatial organization. Distinguished by its crystal glass displays illuminated with 4000 Kelvin lighting, the interior incorporates innovative features such as Dixon bracing arms for adjustable shelving and specially designed crackers baskets that facilitate easy restocking and maintenance. The layout carefully separates staff and customer circulation patterns, distributing high-demand items strategically throughout the store to prevent congestion. The project's technical sophistication is evident in its integrated cooling and heating systems, including a central refrigeration system that maintains optimal product freshness. Completed in 2020 under the direction of architect Emad Salameh, the design successfully merges style, experience, precision, and quality while maintaining functionality as its core principle, creating an elevated shopping experience that has redefined the traditional bakery concept in the region.
