Munige Shop

Munige Shop is an award-winning retail space design project located in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan, exemplifying innovative architectural and interior design principles through its distinctive use of concrete-like materials and geometric forms. The 246-square-meter structure, completed in February 2015, features a remarkable integration of exterior and interior elements, characterized by a sophisticated monochromatic palette complemented by selective wood accents. The centerpiece of the design is a sculptural staircase that serves as both a functional element and an artistic focal point, employing angled folded shapes reminiscent of a conical structure that supports the second floor while seamlessly connecting to an extended ground floor platform. The exterior facade showcases innovative curved surfaces achieved through modified steel structures and strategically placed wall panels, while the integration of oblique LED light strips creates a dynamic sense of movement and contemporary sophistication, particularly evident during nighttime illumination. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional technical achievement in combining various construction materials and methods, including specialized paint effects, LED implementation, and curved architectural elements. The project successfully overcame significant challenges in coordinating multiple construction teams to execute first-time technical experiences within strict time constraints, resulting in a cohesive spatial experience that merges aesthetic innovation with functional retail requirements.
