Iridescent Oolong Tea is an innovative packaging design project that masterfully merges Eastern and Western artistic sensibilities, created by designer Chieh Yu Chiang in Taiwan. This sophisticated design approach employs traditional ink brush strokes combined with contemporary visual elements to represent the complex character of Taiwanese tea culture. The design's conceptual foundation rests on the interplay between shadows and light, virtuality and reality, manifested through the strategic use of holographic and shimmering film materials that create dynamic visual effects. The packaging dimensions of 125mm x 44mm x 190mm house a carefully considered composition where the strength of brush strokes and ink coloration symbolically convey the tea's taste profile, while vivid colors and iridescent elements represent sensory highlights of the tea-drinking experience. This groundbreaking design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, challenges traditional tea packaging conventions by introducing a contemporary aesthetic that appeals to diverse generations while maintaining cultural authenticity. The project's innovative approach to materials and printing methods, developed through extensive experimentation, successfully visualizes the multisensory experience of tea appreciation.
