In Generations Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project that masterfully bridges traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary minimalist design principles, creating a harmonious living space for a multi-generational family. Located in Taiwan and spanning 301 square meters across two combined units, this sophisticated dwelling exemplifies the successful integration of Eastern and Western design elements while addressing the diverse aesthetic preferences of three generations. The project's architectural narrative is anchored in the Chinese philosophical concept of 'the dome-like heaven embraces the vast earth,' manifested through elegant minimalist lines and thoughtful spatial planning. The design features a striking TV wall crafted from Patek Philippe marble, displaying a dark blue finish reminiscent of a starry night sky with subtle golden accents. The interior's material palette combines walnut wood, symbolizing prosperity in Chinese culture, with modern elements such as titanium plating and matte metal finishes. The foyer's marble flooring incorporates traditional Chinese motifs including circles, peonies, fish, and algae, representing wealth and harmony. The social areas are particularly noteworthy for their innovative horizontal extension achieved through ceiling treatments and strategic use of materials, while the dining area features a significant round walnut table that symbolizes family unity. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional skill in balancing cultural heritage with modern functionality, addressing the challenge of creating a space that resonates with multiple generations while maintaining design coherence and sophisticated aesthetics.
