Harun Farocki, born in 1944 in Neutitschein, Czechoslovakia, was a German film director, screenwriter and author. He was considered to be one of the most influential filmmakers of his era and his works are widely exhibited in movies and art galleries around the world. Farocki was well known for his experimental film installations and his commitment to critical examination of the media. He has written over 90 books and produced over 80 films, including such works as “Der Grund” (The Ground), “Videograms of a Revolution”, “Etwas wird sichtbar” (Something Becomes Visible) and “Inextinguishable Fire”. Farocki was also known for his public lectures and talks, often on topics related to media, technology and socio-cultural issues. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 70.
