Beauty Of Collage Residence is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of diverse tile applications within a contemporary living space. Located in Taiwan and completed in 2017, this 105.7-square-meter apartment renovation masterfully showcases various tile compositions throughout its three bedrooms, living room, dining room, and two bathrooms. The design, conceived by Kai-Hui Chang, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its sophisticated use of different tile types, including blue and white porcelain, wooden, cultural, herringbone, and hexagonal variations, each carefully selected to reflect the distinct personalities of family members while maintaining cohesive design integrity. The project's distinguishing feature lies in its thoughtful transformation of a 15-year-old apartment, where industrial style elements merge seamlessly with artistic wall coatings to create fluid transitions between spaces. A particularly noteworthy element is the custom-designed inclined fireplace, which serves as both a functional feature and a metaphorical embrace of family gatherings, facing both the living and dining areas. The designer successfully overcame significant structural challenges, including the reconfiguration of a problematic ceiling beam and kitchen layout, implementing an open-plan solution that maximized spatial efficiency.
