This groundbreaking liquor packaging concept draws inspiration from ancient bamboo slips, historically used for documentation in Chinese civilization, and reimagines them in a modern context. The design features a sophisticated black exterior that symbolizes purity and depth, while incorporating actual bamboo slips that wrap around a meticulously crafted liquor bottle, measuring 150mm x 120mm x 300mm. Distinguished as the first Chinese liquor to implement a no-label design approach, this packaging solution addresses the recycling challenges prevalent in the liquor industry through its use of sustainable and reusable materials. The cultural significance of the design is further enhanced by the inclusion of The Decree of Wine, a Chinese poem intricately carved onto the bamboo slips, creating an interactive experience that mirrors the ancient practice of reading bamboo manuscripts. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, exemplifies a harmonious blend of traditional Asian reading and drinking cultures, while its creation process, spanning from Paris to Shanghai between August and November 2022, reflects a global perspective on cultural preservation through design.
