Authenticity Residence is an exemplary interior design project that masterfully embodies the Japanese aesthetic philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, realized through sophisticated spatial design and meticulous craftsmanship. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, this 132-square-meter residential space, completed in March 2021, represents a harmonious fusion of traditional aesthetics and contemporary living requirements. The design, created by Wei-Li Liu and Yi-Jun Cai, is distinguished by its thoughtful implementation of darker wood tones and greyish-black palettes, creating an atmosphere of refined tranquility. The space features a strategic division between public areas, utilizing contrasting floor textures - wood in the living room for relaxation and black stone in the dining area for visual emphasis. A notable architectural element is the glass brick wall, which facilitates natural light penetration while incorporating various-colored embedded lighting solutions to balance the darker color scheme. The residence exemplifies sustainable design principles through the use of eco-friendly, low-formaldehyde, and bug-resistant materials, ensuring a non-toxic living environment. The design's sophisticated storage solutions and minimalist aesthetic approach reflect a deep understanding of modern living requirements while maintaining aesthetic integrity. The project, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2022, showcases exceptional attention to environmental control systems, including integrated lighting, sound, air, and temperature management.
