Arthur Siegel was an accomplished American artist who made significant contributions to the art world during his lifetime. Born in Chicago in 1918, Siegel studied painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in New York City. After completing his studies, he returned to Chicago and became associated with the Chicago School of Figurative Expressionism, a group of local artists who were known for their unique approach to art-making. Arthur Siegel is an important American artist who was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1918. After graduating he returned to Chicago where he became associated with the group of local artists known as the Chicago School of Figurative Expressionism. He experimented with various techniques, ranging from oil painting to etching. His art combines realism and abstraction and often focuses on the cityscape and its everyday moments. Some of his best-known works include Interior with woman (1959), Railroad Yards (1962), St. Patrick's Day (1963), and Racetrack (1965).
