Al Azra Home Residential is an exemplary ground floor residential dwelling situated in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, distinguished by its innovative architectural approach and thoughtful integration with the natural environment. Commissioned as a retreat house for a retired Emirati resident, this contemporary dwelling masterfully reimagines the site of the client's original family home, encompassing 485.17 square meters within a generous 5,319.8-square-meter plot. The architectural composition features two bedrooms, an office space, and an open-plan living and dining area that seamlessly connects to an inner courtyard, complemented by a modern semi-open kitchen with a breakfast island and auxiliary quarters. The design demonstrates exceptional environmental consciousness through its implementation of stone cladding with ventilation gaps for natural insulation and triple-glass glazing for optimal thermal and acoustic performance. Notable technical features include uniform-level porcelain tile flooring to ensure accessibility and mobility. The structure's positioning within the plot represents a departure from conventional local building practices, prioritizing landscape integration and privacy through strategic vegetation placement. This innovative approach earned the project a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, recognizing its excellence in spatial design, environmental consideration, and cultural sensitivity. The project's distinctive features include its oasis-inspired design philosophy, incorporating water features and indigenous plantings, particularly the native Ghaf tree, which enhances the property's connection to local ecology while providing natural privacy screening.
