Aava Supplements is an award-winning packaging design system for health supplements that exemplifies Nordic minimalism and natural aesthetics, developed with a profound connection to Finnish cultural heritage. The design concept draws inspiration from the Finnish word Aava, which represents openness and the vast natural landscapes characteristic of Nordic regions, incorporating this essence into a sophisticated visual language that appeals to health-conscious consumers across different age demographics. The packaging system consists of precisely dimensioned boxes (65 x 65 x 112 mm) with matt celloglaze finish and transparent plastic containers, chosen specifically for their optimal recycling value, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility. The design methodology integrates botanical illustrations influenced by traditional encyclopedic representations, merged with contemporary digital execution using Adobe Illustrator, with each product variant distinguished by unique Pantone colors through offset printing. The visual narrative successfully overcomes the challenge of harmoniously combining diverse plant varieties into a cohesive design language, while maintaining product differentiation. The project, completed in February 2019, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, acknowledging its excellence in merging functional efficiency with aesthetic appeal. The design's success lies in its ability to communicate transparency and Nordic purity through thoughtful material selection and visual elements, while the label dimensions of 180 x 70 mm provide ample space for essential information and brand storytelling, creating a packaging solution that resonates with the target audience's values and preferences.
