ALSFELD Cutting Boards

ALSFELD Cutting boards is an innovative collection of kitchen implements that draws inspiration from traditional German architectural heritage, specifically the distinctive facades of half-timbered houses found in historic German streets. This sophisticated set, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, comprises four meticulously crafted pieces: a substantial oak cutting board, a maple cutting board with specialized milling, a marble cutting board, and a heat-resistant stand. Each board features precise dimensions, ranging from 245x20x398mm for the largest piece to 182x20x298mm for the smallest, and incorporates thoughtful ergonomic elements such as beveled profiles for optimal grip and strategic milling patterns that prevent liquid runoff during use. Designed by Nott Design Studio in Ukraine, this collection masterfully balances functional practicality with aesthetic appeal, transforming everyday kitchen tools into decorative elements that pay homage to architectural heritage. The design's innovative approach lies in its ability to merge cultural references with practical functionality, creating a harmonious synthesis between traditional architectural aesthetics and contemporary kitchenware design. The varying materials - oak, maple, and marble - not only serve different culinary purposes but also create a visually striking ensemble that elevates the kitchen environment. This design, completed in 2015, exemplifies how everyday utility items can be reimagined through a lens of cultural heritage and sophisticated design principles, making it a notable contribution to modern kitchenware design.
